The 17-18’s of SwimMAC Carolina broke their 3rd National Age Group relay record of the weekend with a 3:37.83 in the 400 yard medley relay.

They were one of two teams who were under the old record on Sunday evening, and SwimMAC’s relay was slightly faster than, and earlier than, KING’s 3:37.94 in the last session of their sectional meet on the west coast.
That swim broke the record set in 2011 by the Aquajets of Minnesota, who were led by Olympic gold medalist Rachel Bootsma to a 3:39.21.

SwimMAC again went 1-2 in this relay, with their 15-16’s swimming a 3:40.59 for 2nd place.
This swim by SwimMAC was just better, by a tenth, than a very similar relay (swapping Postoll for Nora McCullagh on the anchor) swam in 2013 for the 15-16 record. McCullagh is only 16 still though and swam the backstroke leg of the B relay at this meet.
This is one of a handful of times in the last year that we’ve seen a National Age Group Record broken twice in the same night at different meets, which is one more sign of where the greatest swimming generation is taking age group times to.
