Swim Video: Super Slow Motion Breaststroke

Swim Video is courtesy of David Marsh Performance and Queens University of Charlotte, a SwimSwam Swim Camp Partner.

This video is looking at breaststroke from 3 different angle.  This gives us a great generalized concept of the stroke so we can tweak and adjust.   With this group of videos in particular, we are doing an analysis to find the best balance between a narrow kick and a kick that draws up a little wider.  When pulling the feet up, since it does not cause any propulsion, the kick needs to have as little resistance as possible.  Historically Coach Marsh teaches a very narrow kick, but looking at some different styles of breaststroke on the international level the team here is opening up to the idea of finding a balance between an ultra-narrow and a wider kick.   Hope you enjoy the video!
