Great Danes Compete For Prize Money In Elimination Challenge

It has not been quite a year since Danish National Team Head Coach Nick Juba began the “Great Danes” program, which is focused on developing Denmark’s best male swimmers to become competitors on the international stage. The program has been a success so far with several of the men making great strides in their performances.

This weekend four of the ten Great Danes will be competing at a meet in Birkeroed hosted by Sigma Swim. Daniel Skaaning, Anton Orskov Ispen, Magnus Jakupsson and Daniel Steen Andersen along with Andreas Schiellerup and Claus Iversen will all be competing for cash awards that have been offered by the team’s main sponsor Nordea.

The six men will face each other in a series of 50 meter eliminations. They will compete in five rounds of each stroke with one athlete being eliminated in each round.

Pernille Blume will also be involved in the events. She will race the 400 meter freestyle against three teams of eight girls, who will each swim 50 meters.
