Auburn will host the Richard Quick Invitational this weekend, and the storied sprint school looks primed to provide most of the fireworks in the shortest races, according to the psych sheets.
The meet runs Friday through Sunday, and will feature the bulk of Auburn’s strong sprinting corps. Some of the biggest professionals include recent Santa Clara Grand Prix winner Bruno Fratus, New York Athletic Club rep Adam Brown, Brazilian World champs qualifier Beatriz Travalon, and Venezuelan record-holder Albert Subirats.
2014 graduate Marcelo Chierighini is also entered, plus former American record-holder Lara Jackson, who is now continuing her late-career comeback at Auburn after Miami’s budding professional group dissolved.
Another veteran in the field is 28-year-old Amanda Weir, competing for SwimAtlanta.
Current students representing the Tigers include stud sophomore Kyle Darmody, James Disney-May, Allyx Purcell, Michael Duderstadt, and Sarah Peterson.
In addition, in-state rivals Alabama has brought a sizable squad in for competition. The Crimson Tide will enter Icelandic powerhouse Anton McKee, sprinter BJ Hornikel and breaststrokers Kaylin Burchell and Pavel Romanov.
One final notable name to mention is recently-graduated high school senior Sam McHugh. The Tennessee signee is entered in a whole slew of events, including both IMs and both butterflys.
