Jess Thielmann Swims 9th Fastest 1500 In The World At Orlando Sectionals

Jessica Thielmann from the Gator Swim Club ran away with the women’s 1500 freestyle at the 2014, posting the ninth fastest time in the world this year. She won the event with a time of 16:15.74. Thielmann is one of Britain’s most promising up-and-coming distance swimmers, although she is not on the 2014 Commonwealth Games roster. At the 2012 British Gas ASA National championships, she won the 800 free (8:38.88) and placed 3rd in the 400 (4:14.4), both in long course meters. Her previous best 1500 meter time was 16:19.92 from the 2013 British Gas Championships, where she finished second.

Arthur Frayler won the final individual event of the day with a time of 8:12.70 in the men’s 800 freestyle. Frayler is currently on the US National team for the 1500 meter freestyles. He is a very promising American distance swimmer, and is expected to contend for a Pan Pac and World Championship roster spot at the US National Championships next month.

The session ended today with relays. The girls from Trinity Prep Aquatics broke two Florida state records for the 15-16 200 medley relay and the 15-16 200 freestyle relay. Allison Parent, Isabella English, Claire Maiocco, and Caroline White posted the new state record time of 1:59.47 in the 200 medley relay and then the same group posted a 1:49.62 to break the state record in the 200 freestyle relay.
