A3 Performance signs US National Team Member Michael Weiss through 2016

A3 Performance is excited to announce that 23-year-old US National Team Member Michael Weiss will represent A3 Performance through 2016. Weiss swam in A3 throughout his collegiate career as a Wisconsin Badger and is looking forward to representing A3 at the Pan American Games, World Championships, and the fast approaching US Olympic Trials.

Originally from Reno, Nevada, Weiss knew he was truly at home at the University of Wisconsin the moment his recruiting trip began. The outstanding sports teams, a beautiful campus, and being voted the country’s number one college sports town attracted him to Wisconsin, but it was the energy and support from his teammates and coaches that made him stay. Upon graduating from Wisconsin last December, Weiss made the decision to continue his post-graduate training with the Badgers under Coach Whitney Hite.

With every year of training Weiss continues to excel in the pool. Weiss capped a phenomenal collegiate career with the Badgers as the 2013 Big Ten Champion in the 400 IM (3:39.17) and the 2013 UW Student-Athlete of the Year. Since beginning his career at Wisconsin, Weiss has also earned himself a nationally-famed reputation as a 2012 Olympic Trial Finalist in the 400 IM, the 2013 World University Games Gold Medalist and Record Holder in the 400 IM, a spot on the 2014 US Pan Pacific Team, and a two-time Short Course World Champion in the 800 freestyle relay (2012, 2014).

Now ranked in the top 20 in the world in the 400 IM and one of the top competitors going in to an Olympic year, Weiss is looking forward to partnering with A3 Performance.

“From the moment I ended my collegiate career at Wisconsin, I knew I wanted to represent a brand that I trust and believe in. A3 Performance invests so much in to their products and athletes. They see me as more than an athlete, but as a partner and a brand representative in and out of the pool. I am comfortable and confident in their products and I can’t wait to see where the next year takes us both!” said Weiss.

The excitement is definitely mutual as A3 Performance CEO Dan Meinholz is equally thrilled about Weiss and the upcoming Olympic year.

“Michael has always been an exceptional talent and continues to get better! I have known him for a number of years and have always been impressed with his leadership, his understanding of the sport, and his desire to always be the best. Michael’s passion to compete and drive to excel makes him a great addition to our team. There is no doubt that he will be an excellent representative of A3 Performance and we are very excited to work with him,” commented Meinholz on working with Weiss.

Although training is the primary focus for Weiss at this time, he also works as a volunteer assistant with the Badgers allowing him to give back to the team that has given him so much. A3 Performance looks forward to Weiss’s performances at the approaching Pan American Games and World Championships this year. Not far off though are the 2016 Olympic Trials and the swimming world better believe that Michael Weiss is a force to be reckoned with.
