Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
After originally making a verbal commitment to Auburn in December 2019, high school senior Abby McCulloh has now announced her intention to swim at the University of Georgia next fall.
“I chose Georgia because of their amazing distance program reputation and my connection with their wonderful coaching staff!”
McCulloh was released from her NLI with Auburn at the end of April, a couple of weeks after it was announced that Auburn was parting ways with head coach Gary Taylor. Now, she will join the Georgia Bulldogs’ class of 2025 with Angharad Evans, Ava Kennedy, Briana Roberson, Carson Schiller, Duné Coetzee, Elsa Fretz, Hailey Galbraith, Hailey Hicks, Lily Gardner, Mary Martin, Mia Abruzzo, Peyton Palsha, and Rachel Stege.
McCulloh is a senior at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Georgia. She is a three-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a six-time Goergia High School 6-7A state champion. She won the 200 free and 500 free as a sophomore, a junior, and a senior. In February 2019, she won with 1:49.04/4:48.21. The following year her winning times were 1:47.95 and 4:46.21. This season, she wrapped up her prep career with 1:48.37 and 4:44.96.
In club swimming, McCulloh represents SwimAtlanta and is an Olympic Trials Wave I qualifier in the 400/800 free (4:15.82/8:45.37).
At the Georgia Short Course Senior State Championships in March, she won the 500 free, was runner-up in the 200 free, and was a top-8 finisher in the 1000 free and 100 fly. She left the meet with new PBs in the 1000 free and 100 fly.

Smart decision!
Why the ambivalent sentiment?
Go Dawgs! Welcome!
Congrats on the choice. Always happy to see the Georgia bred swimmers getting some shine, especially ones from the Lilburn / Gwinnett county area!
Best of luck!!!
Down vote? Really? Can’t wish a swimmer the best for their personal decision? Hopefully, with coaching changes an individual swimmer shouldn’t do what’s best for their future? Still best of luck!!
lol
People hate on this site big time. Definitely was a smart decision by this swimmer!
We’re only hating because you’re being a Karen. Chill..
i do not think you understand what that words means and how it does not relate to this
@Hswimmer you have no idea what I know about this particular situation and that has nothing to do with being a “Karen”. Instead of being offensive why don’t you have some empathy and accept you do not know everyone’s story.
And so it begins
What begins? People leaving Auburn, or student athletes that committed way too early changing their minds about a college? Granted, this decision was made long before the pandemic began, but wondering how many will change their mind given they couldn’t take “official visits” due to the pandemic.
