GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville sophomore Carlos Claverie and NC State senior Alexia Zevnik have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Swimmers of the Week, while Duke sophomore Evan Moretti and North Carolina junior Elissa Dawson claimed Diver of the Week honors.

Louisville’s Claverie is the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week after posting the NCAA’s fastest time in the nation in the 200 breast stroke this fall of 1:53.32, along with a meet record time of 52.93 in the 100 breast stroke as the Cardinals took first place in the Louisville Invitational. Claverie swam a 23.56 split on the 200 medley relay team that posted a meet and pool record time of 1:25.06. He also posted a first-place and NCAA “B” cut time of 1:45.36 in the 200 IM, and a 52.30 split on a 400 medley relay team that touched first with an NCAA “A” cut time of 3:09.06.
NC State’s Zevnik, the ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, won six of the eight events in which she completed, earning five NCAA “B” cuts and one “A” cut.  She played a valuable role in the Wolfpack women’s team’s victory in its first invitational of the season. All three leadoff relay splits are B cuts. Her 100 back (52.12), 200 back (1:53.05), 200 IM (1:56.82) and 100 free (48.08) times all rank in the top 10 among the NCAA this year.
Duke’s Moretti, the ACC Men’s Diver of the Week, earned a career-best award of 365.70 in the men’s 1-meter finals to take first overall in a highly competitive field at the GAC Invite. He improved upon his preliminaries score by over 65 points to post the fifth-highest 1-meter score in program history. An NCAA qualifier last season, Moretti also finished top three on the platform and surpassed the NCAA Zones qualification standard in all three events over the weekend. His performances helped the Blue Devil men finish third behind only the top-ranked Wolfpack and No. 21 Notre Dame.
North Carolina’s Dawson earned her third ACC Women’s Diver of the Week honor after she continued her early season dominance of women’s diving in the ACC.  The reigning ACC Diver of the Year was the class of the field in the NC State/Greensboro Aquatic Club Invitational as she took first place in one-meter and 10-meter platform diving and was the runner-up in three-meter diving.  Her scores in all three events (295.0 in one-meter, 261.55 in 10-meter platform and 313.85 in three-meter earned her NCAA Zone diving qualification for the 2017 Championships.
