ACWPC Releases Updated 2020 Women’s All-Academic Team

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) releases an updated 2020 Women’s All-Academic team.

Divided into three teams (Outstanding: 4.0-3.71; Superior: 3.70-3.41; Excellent: 3.40-3.20), a record total of 754 athletes earn recognition with 259 Outstanding, 309 Superior and 186 Excellent honorees. The total is a 10 athlete increase over the previously released list and shatters the all-time high of 644 (190 Outstanding, 273 Superior, 181 Excellent) awards established in 2019. Further, it continues an upward trend following previous totals of 573 (2018), 548 (2017), 508 (2016) and 315 (2015).

A record total of 65 institutions earned at least one All-Academic selection, while 63 schools garnered Team All-Academic recognition.

Salem University (3.84), Fresno State University (3.71), Wagner College (3.70), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (3.67), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (3.61), Whittier College (3.60), Utica College (3.58), Brown University (3.56), California State University (3.56), Macalester College (3.56) and the University of Redlands (3.56) hold the 10 highest team grade point averages.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete’s head coach must be a member of the ACWPC, while the athlete must attain a grade point average (GPA) in excess of 3.20. Teams must achieve a 3.0 GPA to garner honors.
