Adam Peaty Wins 2nd Consecutive Derby City Sportsman Of The Year Award

Adam Peaty was recently named the City of Derby’s Sportsman of The Year year for the second consecutive year at the annual Derby Sports Awards in England.

The Sportsman of the Year Award celebrates the Derby player in any sport that has been most impressive from September 2014 to September 2015. The award recognizes the best of the best and goes to an “outstanding individual of whom the whole of Derby can be proud.” The nominees had to display an outstanding level of personal achievement at the district, county, regional, national or international level.

Adam Peaty won this award in 2014, and was also SwimSwam’s Swammy Award winner for the breakout performer of the year. He was the only male swimmer to break a long course world record last year.

This year, Peaty’s success streak continued, breaking the world record in the 100m breaststroke at the British Championships by almost half a second to become the first man in history under 58 seconds. At the FINA World Championships, he won three gold medals (two individual and one relay) and broke two world records ( 50 breaststroke and the mixed 4×100 medley relay).
