– Interactive showcase of adidas swim performance technology

WHERE:  adidas swim a-station at East Twenty Bar & Kitchen Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, directly opposite to London Aquatics Centre

WHEN:  Open to the public: 11am-6pm, 19-22 May.
Press event: 12pm -4pm, 21 May (closed to public)

adidas will present its vision for championing the future of swim at its a-station innovation hub at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 18-22 May. adidas innovators of performance apparel design and sustainable production will join leading swim pioneers to showcase how they are collaborating to break boundaries for the athlete and the oceans in which they swim.

Demonstrating adidas’ commitment to an open-source co-creation with athletes; design and innovation of cutting-edge performance technology; and ongoing role as a guardian of the spaces of sport, the unique space will be open across four days showcasing the technologies that will cause waves in the water, and the innovations that will work to protect it. Athletes and fans are welcome.

Day one will kick-start the adidas Young Urban Swimmers Design Project: a live grassroots co-creation initiative putting the next generation athlete at the heart of the innovation process. Six young female community swimmers from the UK and Germany will be placed at the creative helm of an exclusive 2017 collection, collaborating with the cross functional adidas swim team chief.

Building on the success of the cutting-edge adizero XVI swimsuit designed using body scanning technology involving hundreds of athletes, the a-station will feature a swim-lab where athletes will be invited to help create the next generation of performance goggles and caps by participating in head scanning alongside adidas’ world famous developers from the so-called Future team. Swim fans and athletes are invited to relax and enjoy refreshments in the a-station lounge, which will showcase the brand’s latest swim innovations.

“adidas is the home of sport innovation, always has been, always will be. It’s in our DNA,” says Christine Barth-Darkow, Category Director Swim. “But we have no ambition to do it alone. To ensure that sport continues to change lives for the good, it is our responsibility to open our doors to the next generation of creators, to enable and empower through initiatives such as the a-station.”

Swim fans from around the world can follow events on @adidas_swim on Instagram and Twitter, and join the conversation with #TakeTheLane.
