Aiken-Augusta Adds Andy Pym as Head Coach

The Aiken-Augusta Swim League in Augusta, Georgia has chosen Andy Pym as their new Head Coach and Program Director. Pym was formerly the coach of the Bellevue Club Swim Team, located in Seattle. He started out as their Senior Group Program coach, being promoted to Head Coach at the start of the 2013-14 season following the retirement of Klaas Schenk.

Pym has reached the highest level of coaching certification, level 5, from the American Swim Coaches Association. He has coached swimmers at all levels, from beginners to Olympic Trials qualifiers.

Recently, he’s coached Olympic Trials qualifier Kim Williams. Under Pym, Williams placed 21st in the 400 IM at the 2012 Olympic Trials and swept the IM events at the 2014 U.S. Junior National Championships.

As a result of her performances at that 2014 Juniors meet, Williams was named to the 2014 U.S. Junior Pan Pacs team. As her coach, Pym earned a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team coaches list. Williams, a class 3A Washington state record holder, is now a freshman at Stanford University.

Prior to garnering that honor during his time coaching at Bellevue, Pym worked with the Garfield High School Bulldogs. He helped the team thrive at multiple league and district championships. In 1999, he was honored as the King County District 4A Girl’s Coach of the Year after the team won their district championship and the league championship.

Pym will replace former Aiken-Augusta coach Neil Harper, who left the program to take over as the new head coach at the University of Nevada.
