DENVER – Air Force Academy’s Andrew Faciszewski and Nathanael Zillweger have been named Western Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the week, respectively, for Jan. 11-17.
Faciszewski, a junior from Bluffton, S.C. (Bluffton HS) won two grueling races, the 1000 free and the 400 IM … the two events came within a span of 30 minutes. Faciszewski swam the 1,000 free with a time of 9:46.93 and swam the 400 IM with a time of 4:12.83.
Zillweger, a senior from Phoenix (Willow Canyon) won every event he competed in to help lead Air Force to four dual meets last weekend. He scored a 315.45 and 311.10 on the 3-meter and a 273.90 and 291.90 on the 1-meter.
Other swimmer nominees: Wyoming’s Bryce Carter had one of the best times in school history in the 50 free. Swam a 20.28 for the fourth-best 50 free in UW history. He was a member of the 400 free relay who finished first against Arizona State with a time of 3:01.18, and also a member of the 200 medley relay that came in second place.
Other diver nominees: Wyoming’s Austin Rettinghouse helped guide the Cowboys to a close dual against Arizona State by coming in second place in the both diving competitions. Had one of the best marks in the 1-meter event with a 306.68.
