Alabama Closes Regular Season Saturday at Home against Georgia Tech

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama swimming and diving teams close out their regular season at home against Georgia Tech Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Alabama Aquatic Center.

In addition to being the final meet of the regular season, it will also the Crimson Tide’s annual Power of Pink meet, helping raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

It will also be Senior Day for the Tide and the 13 swimmers participating in their last collegiate competition in the Don Gambril Olympic Pool will be honored prior to the start of the meet, including Brittany Gilbert, Victoria Hove, Travis Kerner, Stefanie Klotz, Justine Panian, Morgan Presley, Abbas Qali, Emma Saunders, Alec Scott, Lauren Searcy, Brett Walsh, Crews Wellford and Brian Westlake.

In addition to everything going around the meet, the Tide will also be utilizing this final regular-season competition to its best advantage. That includes those who have already earned a spot on the Crimson Tide’s Southeastern Conference championship squad fine tuning their race strategy while those still on the bubble will be striving to break through and earn a spot on the conference squad.

Pursley says that in training to this point in the season, the Crimson Tide is ahead of where it was a year ago. That continues a trend that has been growing since he and his staff arrived on campus prior to the 2013 season. That should bode well for a good showing not only against Georgia Tech, but in the championship season that gets underway with the SEC Championships Feb. 16-20 in Columbia, Mo.
