Alabama Swimming and Diving Continues Season at Auburn Friday Afternoon
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama swimming and diving teams remain on the road this week, heading south to take on in-state rival Auburn on the Plains Friday at 3 p.m. CT.
It will be another high-level road showdown for the Tide, coming just weeks after Alabama opened its away schedule at Missouri, with both the Mizzou men and women finishing last season in the top-12 nationally. The Crimson Tide split in Missouri with Alabama’s men coming out top and the women pushing the meet to the end before coming up just short.
This week brings another set of highly-ranked Tigers. Auburn’s men and women are both ranked 10th in the initial College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Swimming & Diving Top-25 Poll of 2016-17. Alabama’s men are fifth and the Tide women are 25th in the poll.
While the Tigers have had the better of the regular-season meets over the last several years, Alabama’s men and women finished ahead of Auburn at last year’s NCAA Championships. The Tide men were sixth while Auburn was 10th. Alabama’s women were 28th at the 2016 NCAA Championships and the Tigers were 33rd.
Alabama’s men are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Southeastern Conference competition while the Tide women are 3-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC competition coming into Friday’s meet. Auburn comes into the meet with matching 3-0 overall and 2-0 SEC marks.
The meet will be held at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center on the Auburn campus and admission is free.
