Alex Walsh made history tonight, winning the 100 breast and marking the 5th different event Walsh has won an individual title in. Reflecting on her career in the NCAA, Walsh said this ride has been everything she could have ever wanted from her college experience.
A. Walsh was stellar at the 2024 Short Course World Championships.
This woman is a class act and truly an icon!
Definitely a Chicago Bulls vibe from The Last Dance documentary now for the Lady Hoos. They will be elite in the years to come, but there will never be anything like the Walsh sisters in the NCAA again. This is it, this is The Last Dance. Savor it.
Was surprised to hear on the broadcast she’s only been training this year for the 100 breast and 200 fly.
I hope she’s not abandoning yet another one of her internationally relevant events, but maybe her knee is giving her issues with long axis strokes? Would explain why her backstroke and freestyle have seemed so off recently
I would guess after the Paris DQ and there being several more years before LA that she just wanted a break from IM focus
I don’t think that means she stopped training for the 200 IM, I think she just put more focus / extra time into 100 breast and 200 fly. And I can’t wait to see this 200 fly tonight
This was specific to the NCAA. She had said in other previous interviews that since it was her 5th year, she’s doing different events that could benefit the team scoring-wise at nationals. She’s still training IMs and breast for LC.
She’s so awesome – what great representation for female athletes!
