2020 Tokyo Summer Paralympic Games

​​Para-swimming kicks off in Tokyo for the 2020 Paralympic Games and we have compiled all the links you need to keep up with 10 days of action.  Tokyo is 13 hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time, so we created a time zone map below to show what time each session will start in your area.

Explanation of Para Classification System

  1. There are 14 classifications for Paralympic swimmers, typically denoted as “S” followed by a number.
  2. “SB” designates an athletes classification for breaststroke events
  3. “SM” is for individual medley events
  4. Athletes with physical impairments are classified in S1-S10, SB1-SB9, and SM1-SM10 with numbers 1-10 ranging from more severe activity limitations to less severe limitations.
  5. Athletes with visual impairments are classified in S/SB11-13.
  6. Athletes with intellectual impairments are classified in S/SB14.
