Allie Stockwell Stays Close to Home, Commits to Buffalo

Jamestown High School senior Allie Stockwell has just announced her intentions to swim for the University at Buffalo, beginning in the Fall of 2019.

Stockwell is a freestyle specialist who represents STAR Swimming in Buffalo, New York during the club season. In her junior season at Jamestown, she placed 13th in the 50 free at the 2018 New York High School Girls’ State Championship en route to a new best time. Stockwell also swam the 100 free, where she placed 42nd. The 50 was her second ever finals appearance at the state level, as she placed 12th in the 50 free at the 2017 NY State Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free: 24.20
  • 100 free: 52.61
  • 100 fly: 59.24
  • 100 back: 58.69

Stockwell will be joining a historically strong sprint program when she arrives to campus next fall. The Buffalo women went 1-2 in the 50 freestyle at the 2018 Mid-American Conference Championship, their first place finisher being recent graduate Megan Burns, who picked up yet another win in the 100 freestyle. Moreover, Stockwell is roughly within a second of what qualified for finals in the 50/100 freestyles at last year’s conference meet.
