Allison Schmitt Crushes American Record in Women’s 200 Free

Allison Schmitt took out the women’s 200 free just as hard as she did the 400 free. This time, however, with a little bit of a shorter race to hold on to, she finished under American Record pace, scoring a 1:54.40 – a new American Record.

That’s also the second-fastest swim in history and a new all-time best swim in textile.

Here’s the comparative splits to the old American Record: a 1:54.96 that she destroyed by half-a-second.

Schmitt ’09: 27.54 – 28.77 – 29.42 – 29.23 = 1:54.96
Schmitt ’12:  27.01 – 28.60 – 29.28 – 29.51 = 1:54.40

And the plot thickens…
Very nice swim from Allison, i hope she has a bit more in the tank for Olympics. She is a contender for a gold medal with Muffat.I am a bit curious what time sarah jo can put full tapered and how the Diva will answer these 154´s in London.

Fantastic swim.
I thought she was going to pay for it in the last 50 like she normally did in the past, but it seems her training corrected that.
