All-American 500 Freestyler Kasia Malendowicz Commits to Columbia

Kasia Malendowicz, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, New York, has made a verbal commitment to the application process at Columbia University.* Malendowicz swims for her high school and the club team Empire Swimming. She told SwimSwam:

“I am indescribably excited and grateful to spend the next four years at Columbia, both Coach Diana and Coach Demerae are extraordinary in their coaching ability as well as their personalities. The school on its own is more than I could have ever asked for and I felt a connection to the team and the campus. Thank you to my coaches, parents and friends for standing by me for the last 11 years. Go Lions, Roar!!!”

Malendowicz has been a cornerstone of the Horace Greeley swim team since her freshman year, when she was named MVP. She qualified for States all three years, and was a state finalist in the 200/500 frees in 2015. In 2014 she placed third at States in the 500 and was an A-finalist in the 200. In club swimming she swims the range of freestyle events and IM. She had a strong summer season, earning new best times in LCM in the 50/200/400/800m free, 200m back, 100m fly, and 200m IM at the SGSA Eastern Invitational and the ISCA Summer Seniors Championships.

Best Times:

Malendowicz will join Northern California’s Stefanie Ting in the Columbia University class of 2021.
