American Athletic Conference Champion in the mile, Frederica Kizek has announced that she will be transferring to Nevada for her COVID-19 fifth year.
Kizek spent her first four years at SMU. As a freshman, Kizek was second in the mile, third in the 400 IM, and fifth in the 500 free at the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championships.
She didn’t swim the conference meet as a sophomore, but as a junior she won the mile in a 16:27.69. In addition, she was third in the 500 (4:49.39), and seventh in the 400 IM (4:22.30). She was SMU’s third highest individual scorer with 48 points.
In her senior season, she finished second at AAC’s in the mile (16:27.79), third in the 400 IM (4:19.12) breaking the 4:20-second barrier, and fifth in the 500 (4:50.06). She scored 80 individual points as a senior (they added a scoring C final changing the point totally), once again being the third highest individual scorer.
Her best SCY times:
- 500 free: 4:46.71
- 1650 free: 16:27.69
- 400 IM: 4:19.12
The Nevada women finished fourth out of nine teams at the Mountain West Championships two months ago. Kizek’s best mile time would have been second, and Nevada’s highest finisher in the event was 13th. Kizek’s best time would have been third in the 500, where Nevada only had one C finalist, and her 400 IM would have been fifth (Nevada’s Benedict Nagy won the event).
Nice pick up!
