Sprint freestyler Kaison Ifill of Taunton, MA has given his commitment to Amherst College for the Fall of 2015. Ifill attended high school at Suffield Academy in Suffield, Connecticut where he won the NEPSAC title in the boy’s varsity 50 yard freestyle in a time of 20.98.
Ifill explained his decision to swim at Amherst “because it is a small college much like my high school. It has a reputation for strong academics, great diversity, a strong sense of community. Amherst College has an excellent swim program where I believe I can have an immediate impact.”
Given that graduating senior Connor Sholtis of Amherst set the program record in the 50 at the 2015 NESCACs at 20.63, it seems fairly likely that Ifill will certainly have that immediate impact he was hoping for, on the record books as well as the team.
As if being a swimming superstar wasn’t enough, Ifill also shared that he has plans to compete in other sports as well while in college. He shared his ambitions to run track as well as participate in water polo while at Amherst.
Ifill will be joining his sister and current junior Kasia on Amherst’s team.
He will enroll this year fall 2015 – the article states 2016. Awesome recruit for Amherst!
I want to express my deep thanks to Christie Close-Batchelor and her husband Chuck Batchelor for being great coaches and mentors to Kaison over the years with the Bluefish Swim Club. I know he will always have a home and friends there.
I also extend my deeps thanks to Coach Andy Lowe at Suffield Academy for his work and support these last four years.
Pamerson Ifill
Great school.
Another great commit from the Bluefish Swim Club powerhouse under Chuck Batchelor!!! Kaison is flat out fast in the land or pool – he cannot be contained!
