Amy Bilquist was the fastest going out and coming home in the women’s 100 backstroke, flipping in 28.91 and then managing a 30.73 on the final 50 to make her the only woman under a minute tonight with a 59.64.

15-year-old Claire Curzan placed 2nd in 1:00.39, just ahead of Caitlin Brooks who touched 3rd in 1:00.46.

Tennessee’s Erika Brown finished 4th in 1:00.71, NC State’s Kylee Alons 5th in 1:00.71, Lucie Nordmann 6th in 1:00.83, Cal’s Isabel Ivey 7th in 1:00.85, and Annabel Crush 8th in 1:00.88.

I was impressed, and it might be worth noting, that Gretchen Walsh won Heat B with the second fastest 100 Back time of the meet. Maybe that’s in another article about this race…
