Anders Holm, Olympic Trials Post Analysis

Anders Holm once put it down in the pool, a 50 yard sprint-man who swam for Wisconsin. He swam DI and then made it big in Hollywood as the writer, producer and star of Comedy Central’s “Workaholics”. Stopping in for SwimSwam’s half-time US Olympic Trials review and post Olympic Trials recap, Anders shares his thoughts on Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Cullen Jones, Anthony Ervin, Matt Grevers, Missy Franklin, Conor Dwyer, Adam Mania, and many others enroute to the 2012 London Olympics.

I was so geared up when I saw the thread title, I was thinking Ahhh the Swedish swimming great from the 80s and 90s, Anders Holmertz! He was checking out the US trials, glad to see he’s still into the sport. Instead, it took a few seconds for it to click that no, this was about a some Cheesehead ex college swimmer gone to Hollywood. My hopes were dashed. (I’m kidding by the way … sort of).

As an 18-24 year old male, you’re welcome. (That’s nuts though, that’s an incredibly valuable demographic.) Love the show, jumped in about halfway through season one.

Moar of this, plz.

Anders, nice job injecting swimming into your mainstream show. I’m a fan. What do you think about taking it even further after the Olympics? Season 1’s “Muscle I’d Like to Flex” is a “Workaholics” classic and could be a good blueprint for what to go for: take Adam’s delusional narcissism into the sport swimming. Can you imagine Adam standing next to Grevers? This would be a good way to get some elite swimmers onto mainstream tv as well. Good luck!
