Arizona Sprinter Aimee Hatfield Verbally Commits to New Mexico State

New Mexico State_w_Hatfield_senior picAimee Hatfield, from Arizona’s Phoenix Swim Club, has made a verbal commitment to swim at New Mexico State beginning in 2015-16.

“When I first stepped on campus at NMSU, I felt completely at home. Coaches Rick and Rachel are very nice and friendly. I have heard wonderful things about their program and look forward to participating in that program next year.
What ultimately led me to make my decision were the girls on the team. Their zealousness and eagerness for swimming and for their education is inspiring. I cannot wait to become a part of it next year. Go Aggies!”

Hatfield is a senior at Xavier College Prep High School in Phoenix. At the 2013 Arizona State Swimming & Diving Division 1 Championships last November, Hatfield was instrumental in Xavier Prep’s second place team finish with her 50 frees, both individually (fourth place) and on relays (anchoring the 200 medley and leading off the 200 free relay).

Hatfield’s top sprints include:

50y free – 23.65
100y free – 52.81
50m free – 26.68
100m free – 1:00.33

Hatfield will be a nice addition to the Aggies’ lineup. Her 50 free time would have been an A-final contender at the 2014 Western Athletic Conference championship meet, while her 100 free would have placed her in the B-final. Additionally, those times would have been nice additions to NMSU’s relays.
