Arlington Aquatic Club’s Chris Outlaw has made a verbal commitment to the Virginia Tech Hokies for the 2015-16 season.
“I chose Virginia Tech because I’ve been a Hokie fan my whole life. I felt a strong bond with the swimmers and coaches. I was especially drawn by the unity of the team. I can’t wait to be a part of the Hokie Nation!”
Outlaw is a senior at Bishop O’Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia. At the 2014 Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Championships, Outlaw helped Bishop O’Connell to a seventh-place team finish when he scored second in the 50 free (21.23) and won the consolation of the 100 free (48.01) with the fourth-fastest time in the meet. He also anchored Bishop O’Connell’s second-place 200 medley relay and led off their fourth-place 200 free relay.

With Arlington Aquatic Club this past long course season, Outlaw was an A-finalist in the 50m free at NCSA Summer Championships. He made D-finals in the 100m free and 50m fly.
Outlaw is a particularly good relay swimmer, especially in the anchor leg. With Bishop O’Connell, he split a 21.04 50y free in prelims at states, then a 20.67 in finals. Similarly, at NCSAs he went 23.37 on the end of Arlington Aquatic Club’s 200m medley relay.
