BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following the Army West Point swimming & diving team’s dominant victory over Columbia, senior Daniel Alaimo has been tabbed Patriot League Diver of the Week.

This marks the second-straight week that Alaimo has collected laurels from the conference office, as he helped Army take home all four weekly awards after the meet against Bucknell. In total, Alaimo has racked up five Patriot League Diver of the Week honors in his senior campaign.

During the recent outing against in-state foe Columbia, Alaimo led the Black Knights (5-3, 1-1 PL) with a pair of second-place finishes in both the 1- and 3-meter dives. His mark of 342.15 out-scored the third place diver by about 20 points in the 3-meter event, a feat that he nearly matched on the 1-meter board when his score of 341.78 created a 17.63-point margin over teammate David Manelis, who finished third.

Alaimo has already qualified for NCAA Zones in both the 1- and 3-meter events and will look to help Army chase down a league title at the 2021-22 Patriot League Championships, which will run from Wednesday, Feb. 16 through Saturday, Feb. 19 in Annapolis, Md.

Before looking ahead to the conference championship, the Black Knights have one last regular-season meet this Friday, Jan. 28 at 5 p.m. against Patriot League member Lehigh. The meet at Crandall Pool will serve as the team’s Firstie Night, which will see Alaimo and the rest of the 11-member senior class honored by head coach Brandt Nigro and his staff.
