BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Army West Point swimming & diving team was well-represented amongst the Patriot League’s weekly honors announced on Tuesday afternoon, as Evan Yoo was named Male Swimmer of the Week and David Manelis received a Male Diver of the Week nod.

Yoo and Manelis teamed up to help the Black Knights defeat Lehigh in their final dual of the regular season last Friday night at Crandall Pool. The pair combined for five top-two finishes to help boost Army to its 194.5-94.5 victory.

This is the second weekly conference accolade that Yoo has received in his freshman campaign. The rookie posted two first-place finishes in individual events during the meet against the Mountain Hawks, taking home both the 100 Breast and the 500 Free, and additionally helped a relay entry finish second in the 200 Medley. Yoo’s time of 4:32.25 in the 500-yard freestyle beat his previous personal record by six seconds and his 100 Breast race (55.43) marked an in-season best. His swims were marked the first- and fourth-best among the Patriot League that week, according to rankings put out by CollegeSwimming.com.

Manelis, who received the first Patriot League selection of his career, stepped up in a big way during the clash with Lehigh. The rookie had an outstanding performance in the 1-meter dive, breaking the program’s plebe record with a score of 371.85 while simultaneously qualifying for NCAA Zones and winning the event. He additionally picked up a second-place finish on the 3-meter board, finishing behind teammate Isaac Newman with a score of 318.68.
