The Auburn Tigers had no problem handling the Arkansas Razorbacks today, as they won every single event save for the 500 free.
Freshman Bailey Nero had a strong day, winning the 200 fly (2:01.39) and finishing 2nd in the 400 IM (4:18.67) in a very tight matchup with Annie Lazor (4:18.57).
Ashton Ellzey and Allyx Purcell took care of business in the sprint free races- Ellzey, the sophomore, won the 50 free (22.90), while junior Purcell touched out at 50.23 to take the 100. Ellzey also posted a quick 22.43 anchor leg on the end of the Tigers’ winning 200 medley relay.
Caroline Baddock and Jillian Vitarius tangled in the 200 free. Baddock took the win (1:50.59) in a very tight race against Vitarius (1:50.99) with freshman Erin Falconer (1:50.77) sandwiched in between. Baddock would later take 2nd in the 200 fly behind Nero, while Vitarius won the 200 back (1:58.51).
Natasha Lloyd, who had an impressive 27.55 breast split on Auburn’s A 200 medley relay, came back to torch the field in the 200 breast. She finished at 2:14.72, well ahead of 2nd place finisher Madison Strathman (2:17.07) of Arkansas.
The Razorbacks found themselves a victory in the 500 free, as senior Anna Mayfield rocked a 4:48.96 as the only competitor under 4:53 in the race.
The Tigers won both diving events thanks to sophomore Maddie Cox, and concluded the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay. Auburn won this one 142 to 95.
