Australia’s Olivia Borg Commits to the University of Nevada

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Olivia Borg, a current high school senior from Queensland, Australia, has committed to swim for Division I University of Nevada under head coach Brendan Bray. Borg will graduate from high school in spring 2020 and join the Wolf Pack’s class of 2024.

Borg is a current swimmer for Australia’s renowned Miami Swim Club where she holds the team record in the 50 LCM butterfly (27.55). She is also a McDonald’s Queensland Championship qualifier.

At the 2020 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships with the Wolf Pack, Borg would have had multiple finals performances with her current best times converted to yards. Most notably, she would have placed 3rd in the 100 butterfly (53.54), 10th in the 100 freestyle (50.52) and 14th in the 50 freestyle (23.21).

Her most recent best time in the 100 fly came in 2018 at the Swimming Australia Trials meet that chose several teams for the country that summer. She placed 13th in the 100 fly at that meet. At the 2019 Trials, she was well off her best times.

Best LCM Times:

  • 50 freestyle – 26.57
  • 100 freestyle – 57.68
  • 50 butterfly – 27.55
  • 100 butterfly – 1:00.83

This year at the Mountain West Championships, the Wolf Pack placed 2nd as a team. Eleven of the team members were given All-Conference honors.

She joins a very geographically-diverse roster at Nevada that had 9 international swimmers out of 24 during the 2019-2020 season. That includes another Queenslander, Imogen Watson, who will be a senior next season when Borg arrives. The Wolfpack also have swimmers from The Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, and Brazil last season.

Borg will begin her swimming career at the University of Nevada fall 2020.
