Backstroke Specialist Faith Sill Commits to Northern Michigan University (2021)

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Beloit Memorial High School senior Faith Sill has verbally announced her decision to swim for the Northern Michigan Wildcats beginning in the fall of 2021.

“My name is Faith from the class of 2021 and recently I committed to Northern Michigan University! I am super excited to continue my education and swimming in the UP! Go Wildcats!!”

Sill is entering her senior season at Beloit Memorial High School. In November, she competed at the Big 8 Women’s Swim Conference Meet, but because of her recent transfer from Beloit Turner High School, she was unable to score points at the meet. She crushed her entry time of 2:00.46 in the 200 free, touching the wall in a personal best time of 1:57.71. Similarly, she dropped 1.85 seconds from her entry time in the 100 free to go a 54.13. Finally, she swam the 50 free, posting a time of 25.79.

According to an interview with the Beloit Daily News, Sill holds the Beloit Memorial Purple Tide’s records in the 100 and 200 back, and the 200 free.

Sill attended the Wisconsin 13&O SCY State Championships as a member of the Green County YMCA team. She swam the 50 free, 100 and 200 back, and the 100 and 200 fly. She swam a personal best time in the 50 free (24.73), leading off Green County’s relay. She tied Natalie Schick of Badger Aquatic Club for 7th place in the 100 back (56.75). She went personal best times in the 200 back, 100 fly, and 200 fly. Her 200 back time of 2:01.73 earned her a Futures Championships cut.

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 back – 26.50
  • 100 back – 56.29
  • 200 back – 2:01.73
  • 100 fly – 57.54
  • 200 fly – 2:07.40

Sill will join Northern Michigan in the 2021-2022 season. Her top times would have placed her in the A-final in the 100 and 200 back, and the 100 and 200 fly at the 2020 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

Last season, the Northern Michigan University women won their first conference title since 2002, recording their 7th title in program history. Meritxell Font-Cantarero, Jenna Joerger, Michaela Nelson and Gabriella Spajic qualified for individual events at the DII NCAA Championships, while Briana Arnold, Jules Engesser, and Margaret Vaitkus qualified to swim on the team’s relays.
