Backstroker Tonicia Thomas of Las Vegas Commits to Colorado State University

Tonicia Thomas, a backstroker from Las Vegas, Nevada, has committed to swim for the Colorado State University Rams beginning in 2015-16.

Thomas trains at Desert Storm Swimming and swims for Rancho High School. She won the Nevada State Short Course Championships in the 100 and 200 back last November, then went on to win the 100 back at the 2014 NIAA State Division 1 High School Championships in May.

Her top short course yards times over the last two seasons include:

200y back: 1:59.32
100y back: 55.79
50y back: 26.75
50y free: 24.03
100y free: 53.13
200y free: 1:52.51
200y IM: 2:08.42
100y fly: 58.61

Thomas’ top times make her an immediate asset to the Rams. Her 200 back time would have been CSU’s fastest and would have put her right on the A/B-final border, while her 100 back would have placed her right in the middle of the B-final.
