CLEVELAND–Miami University senior swimmer Evan Bader (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) was named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week following strong performances in a pair of meets last week, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
After a month off from competition following the Miami Invite, Bader picked up right where he left off. The senior breaststroke specialist made his return to the pool on Jan. 13 against Cincinnati, where he finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:05.5. He was also part of a 200-yard medley relay team that took second place. At Buffalo last Saturday, Bader impressed again after finishing second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:07. 35.
Bader owns a 3.98 GPA and is a double major in chemistry and chemical engineering. This is the first MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week award for Bader this season and the third of his career.
