Tennessee’s Daniel Chang has verbally committed to continue his swimming and academics at Harvard University next fall.* “I can’t wait to be a part of this amazing team next year,” said Chang. “Go Crimson!”

A member of the Barracuda Swim Club of Northeast Tennessee, Chang earned his Olympic Trials cut while placing fourth in the 200 breaststroke at Junior Nationals this past summer.  Also at that meet, he competed in the 100 breaststroke (17th), the 200 IM (14th), and the 400 IM (30th).  As a member of the Science Hill High School team, Chang set a National Public School record in the 100 meter breaststroke,  and was the Tennessee State Champion in the 200 IM and runner-up in the 100 breaststroke his junior year.

His best SCY times to date are:

  • 100 breaststroke: 55.16
  • 200 breaststroke: 1:59.70
  • 200 IM: 1:46.98
  • 400 IM: 3:56.84

Chang would have scored for Harvard in the “B” finals of each of the above events at the 2015 Ivy League Men’s Championships.

*DISCLAIMER: Chang has not yet been officially accepted to Harvard. As is true with all Ivy League schools, Harvard’s Admission Office will not send its acceptance letter until the beginning of December, along with those of all Early Action candidates. The procedure for a recruited athlete like Chang is for Admissions to review his transcripts and SAT scores, “support his application for admissions in the fall,” issue him a Likely Letter, then offer him acceptance into the class of 2020.
