Becky Gallantree and Alicia Blagg win bronze at the FINA/NVC Diving World Series

Commonwealth Champions Becky Gallantree and Alicia Blagg secured bronze on the opening day of the FINA/NVC Diving World Series in Beijing.

The pair began well with a strong opening dive but moved down to sixth after an unusually shaky second round.

Gallantree and Blagg held their nerve with the optional round as their tougher dives moved them back up the field.

Their Front 2 ½ Somersaults 1 Twist Piked scored them 71.10 points to put them in medal contention.

The pair finished with 293.40 points behind the Australian’s Maddison Keeney and Annabelle Smith who scored 299.55. China’s Wu Minxia and Shi Tingmao took the gold with 28.50 points.

Chris Mears and Jack Laugher finished in fourth place in the 3m Synchro just four points from bronze. They scored a total of 402.12.

Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch finished in fifth place in the 10m Synchro with a score of 289.62.

The London leg of the FINA Diving World Series takes place from 1 – 3 May and will see the world’s best return to the London Aquatics Centre.
