Peak behind the scenes at the 2018 USA Swimming Girls’ National Select Camp by watching the short video below. Besides the behind-the-scenes action shots, several of the camp’s coaches and mentors, including Dan Jacobs of Machine Aquatics, Katie Callan-Wehrle of the Magnolia Aquatic Club, and National Teamer Kendyl Stewart, talk about the value that the camps bring to the participants.
As Callan-Wehrle pointed out in her interview, the camp brings together swimmers are come from a scenario where they’re usually the best swimmer on their team and exposes them to the top swimmers from around the country – to push them to keep working and to not be satisfied with just being the best swimmer on their team or in their area. Callan-Wehrle also points out the value of introducing the swimmers to the Team USA system, and everything that’s available for them as the country’s top swimmers – both in terms of resources and relationships.
