Belagavi ke Anish Pai ne haal hi me Maharashtra State Amateur Aquatic Association dwara Mumbai me 16 February ko held Sunk Rock se Gateway Of India tak ki sea swimming race me second place secure kiya.
Anish ne 5km ki distance 42 minutes and 57 seconds me complete ki. Wo sirf 1 second se first place se chook gaye. Ye race ka 61st edition tha. Last year 60th edition me Anish ne first place secure kiya tha.
Belagavi ke another young athlete, Samiti English Medium School ke differently-able student Skandh Ghatge (9 yr) ne apni age group me second place secure kiya. Wo travel agent Rahul Ghatge ka beta hai.
Anish KLE International School ka class 9th ka student hai aur ak ace swimmer hai jisne kai medals jeete hain. Wo Belagavi Hotel Owners Association ke president Ajay Pai ka beta hai. Award me prize money, citation and medals shaamil hain.
Competition me desh bhar se kareeb 500 swimmers ne different categories me participate kiya. Participants Belagavi, Hyderabad, Mumbai aur other states se aaye the. Ye one-day race thi, jisme swimmers ko rough sea conditions ke beech 5km ki distance cover karni thi. Swimming complete karne ke baad, participants ko paani se bahar aana tha aur finishing table ko touch karna tha.
Apni exemplary achievements se Belagavi ko proud karne wale Anish & Skandh ab next year se poore saal Swimming Federation of India dwara organized open water swimming competition me participate karenge. Dono ko famous swimming coach Umesh Kalaghatagi ke under me training di ja rahi hai.
