Aidan Burns

Aidan Burns was born Sept. 17 1997 in Saratoga, Calif. to mother Anne Griswold. The freestyle and medley specialist chose to swim for the University of Georgia where he is currently a sophomore majoring in Biochemistry. Back in California, he swims under head coach John Bitter for the Santa Clara Swim Club.

University Of Georgia

2015-2016

Burns went to the University of Georgia as the number one recruit in the nation. At the SEC Championships he finished seventh in the 1,650 yard freestyle ninth in the 500 yard freestyle and 11th in the 400 yard medley, earning him a place on the SEC All-Freshman team. He also attended the NCAA Championships as a relay alternative.

International Career

2013 World Junior Championships

With the Stars and Stripes on his cap for the first time, Burns flew to Dubai for the Junior World Championships. He swam the 400 meter freestyle and finished 11th in 3:55.44.

2014 Junior Pan Pacific Championships

In Maui, Burns collected his first international medal in the 400 meter freestyle. He finished with a silver medal behind his compatriot, Liam Egan, in 3:53.10. He also swam the 200 meter freestyle where he qualified for the ‘B’ final and finished first in 1:50.48 and the  1,500 meter freestyle finishing 11th in 15:40.43.
