Alesha (Olesen) Breckon began her swimming career when her parents put a pool in the back yard. They enrolled Alesha and her brother in the local summer league in an effort to make sure they were “water safe.” At the end of the summer, she joined Blue Tide Aquatics in Houston, Texas. During her ten years on the team, she competed at the state and national level, including the US Open and Junior Nationals. Alesha also swam Varsity for Kingwood High School, where she was a Scholastic All-American and All-American in swimming.
Alesha joined the Mean Green of the University of North Texas where she specialized in butterfly and IM events, was a school record holder, All Conference, and letter winner. Alesha’s competitive career was cut short after just two years of collegiate swimming due to a re-injury of a bad shoulder. Since “retiring,” Alesha has taught swim lessons and been the assistant coach for a private high school.
When not working at her day job as the Director of Operations for BLVD Dentistry in Houston, Alesha is putting her literature and writing background to use at SwimSwam as one of our copy editors and contributors.
