Breno Correia is a competitive swimmer who represents Brazil internationally. He is a world champion (25m) in the 800 free relay, and Pan American champion 4×100 and 4×200 free relays.

2018 Short Course World Championships (Hangzhou, China)

At his first world championships, Correia established himself as a vital weapon in Brazil’s arsenal. On the first night in the 400 free relay, Correia anchored Brazil to a bronze medal and South American record (3:05.15) with a team-best 45.62 split.

In the 800 free relay, Correia once again had a team-best (and this time, field-best) anchor split of 1:40.98 to edge Brazil past Russia and not only bring his home country gold, but shock the world with a new world record, touching at 6:46.81.

Individually, Correia placed 5th in the 200 free final (1:42.36), just .08 away from medaling.

2019 World Championships (Gwangju, South Korea)

At his first long course championships, Correia made big strides, even though he came away with no medals. He made the final of the 100 free, placing 8th (48.90) after swimming a personal best of 48.33 in the semi finals. He also placed 17th in the 200 free (1:47.26).

Correia’s biggest role may have been on Brazil’s relays. In the 4×100 free, Correia threw down a personal best of 47.97 on the anchor leg in Brazil’s 6th place showing. In the prelims of the 4×200 free relay, Correia split 1:46.03 on the anchor leg to help Brazil to a new South American record of 7:07.12. The relay placed 7th in the final heat at 7:07.64.

2019 Pan American Games (Lima, Peru)

Correia won silver in the 200 free (1:47.47) and finished fifth in the 100 free (49.14) in Lima.

He also swam on Brazil’s gold medal 4×100 free and 4×200 free relay teams and the country’s silver medal 4×100 medley relay and 4×100 mixed free relay teams.
