Brett Ringgold
Brett Ringgold is a sprint specialist at the University of Texas. The Keller, Texas native was home schooled through Blessed Hope Christian Academy, Ringgold was a highly sought after recruit in the 2014 men’s swimming recruiting class. He was Collegeswimming.com’s 19th-ranked recruit in the 2014 class, and the no. 2 recruit in the state of Texas. Ringgold is also a member of the 2012-2013 USA Swimming Junior National Team, and received 53 favorites on Twitter when he announced his commitment to UT.
University of Texas
2014-2015
As a freshman, Ringgold won a bronze medal at the NCAA Championships as a member of the 200 yard medley relay. In his individual swims at the meet, he finished 19th in the 100 yard butterfly and freestyle and 32nd in the 50 yard freestyle.
At the Big 12 Championships, he helped the University of Texas to another conference title with a gold in the 100 yard freestyle, silver in the 50 yard freestyle and fourth place finish in the 100 yard butterfly. He also added three golds as a member of Longhorn relays.
2015-2016
In his second year as a Longhorn, Ringgold was back at the NCAA Championships and back on the podium. This time it was at the top with a gold as the lead off of the 200 yard freestyle relay. In the 400 yard freestyle relay, the Longhorns combined for a silver medal. Ringgold improved on his individual performances too. He finished 5th in the 100 yard freestyle and 10th in the 50.
At the Big 12 Championships, Ringgold defended his 100 yard freestyle title, finished with silver in the 50 yard freestyle and fourth in the 100 yard butterfly. He also won gold as a member of three Longhorn relays.
2016-2017
Ringgold made it three-for-three in the 100 yard freestyle at the Big 12 Championships. For the third straight year he toped the podium in the event, this time ahead of his teammates Townley Haas and Tate Jackson who finished second and third. He picked up bronze medals in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard butterfly.
National Competition
Ringgold was a member of the 2012-2013 USA Swimming Junior National Team, as well as an Olympic Trials qualifier in the 50 and 100 free. He has been selected for multiple swimming camps including:
