Caba Siladi

Caba Siladi
Caba Siladi is a Serbian breaststroke specialist, and has been a part of the Serbian Olympic Team. Although Caba Siladi is the Hungarian form of his name, he also referred to as the English, Caba Siladji. Siladi is a multi-time Olympian, competing in Beijing and London, and is looking to a third Olympic birth in Rio — he’s medaled on the international stage, and has qualified in the championship in numerous World Championship breaststroke events.

Early career
Swimming since 1997, Siladi was also a competitive water polo player until 2004. Through 2007 and 2008 Siladi had huge improvements in his swimming career, including qualifying for the 2007 European Short Course Swimming Championships and both the World and European Junior Championships, where he won a silver and bronze at the Youth World Swimming Championships.

2008 Beijing Olympics
Siladi qualified for the 2008 Serbian Olympic Team not long after breaking out on the international stage. He swam a 1:02.31 in his only event, the 100-meter breast, which was good enough for a 2nd place finish in his heat, and 40th overall.

2009
A year after Beijing Siladi swam in a number of big meets including the World Championships, European Championships, the Mediterranean Games, and the Summer Universiade — he picked up a silver in the 100-meter breast and a bronze in the 50-meter breast at the Summer Universiade.

2012 London Olympics
Siladi qualified for his second Olympic Games, which were held in London. After more experience competing on the international stage, and winning medals, Siladi entered London with much more experience behind him. He qualified in one event, the 100-meter breaststroke, and finished 2nd in his heat, but his time wasn’t enough to advance further.

2014 European Championships
At the 2014 European Championships Siladi had great success in the 50-meter breast, where he won his semi-final heat after advancing from the preliminaries. After qualifying 2nd for the championship final, he added just .17 in the final and finished 4th, just .02 seconds away from a bronze medal.

2015 World Championships
Held in Kazan Siladi qualified for the 2015 World Championships. Swimming the 50-meter breast, an event he’s been climbing the world ranks in, Siladi qualified 2nd from prelims, and and 7th out of the semi-finals. In the championship heat Siladi added a solid chunk of time, and finished 8th overall. Not far off of his best time Siladi also qualified for the semi-finals of the 100-meter breast, and finished 16th.
