Caio Pumputis is a competitive swimmer that represents Brazil internationally.
College (Georgia Tech)
2018
Pumputis was an immediate impact swimmer for Georgia Tech. At the 2018 ACC Championships, he placed second in the 200 breast (1:53.45), ninth in the 200 free (1:34.90) and 17th in the 200 IM (1:45.46). Pumputis was also part of the sixth place 800 free relay, sixth place 400 medley relay, seventh place 400 free relay and ninth place 200 free relay teams. At the NCAA Championships, Pumputis finished 34th in the 100 breast (53.53) and 36th in the 200 IM (1:45.54). He also swam the 200 breast but was disqualified in the prelims.
2019
Pumputis made his presence known to college swimming known, smashing onto the scene with big mid-season invite performances. He followed them up at the 2019 ACC Championships, where he won the 200 breast title in an ACC meet record time of 1:51.46 and captured the 200 IM crown (1:41.28). He also set the Georgia Tech school record in the 100 breast (52.07) in the finals at the conference meet, finishing second overall, and was a member of Georgia Tech’s fourth place 200 medley relay, sixth place 400 medley relay, seventh place 800 free relay and eighth place 400 free relay teams.
At the NCAA’s, Pumputis finished fourth in the 200 breast (1:50.79), sixth in the 200 IM (1:41.04) and sixth in the 100 breast (51.38). He was also part of the 16th place 800 free relay, 17th place 400 medley relay and 24th place 200 medley relay at the NCAAs.
International Competition
2019 Pan American Games (Lima, Peru)
In Lima, Pumputis won his first major international medal, touching for silver in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.12.
