Catie DeLoof is a competitive swimmer who represents the United States internationally. Catie qualified for the 2021 Olympic team in the 4×100 free relay.
She has 3 sisters, all of whom also swam at Michigan: Ali, Gabby, and Jackie.
College (Michigan)
2015-2016
Catie made an immediate impact for the wolverines as a freshman. At the Big Ten Champs, she finished 10th in the 100-yard Freestyle (49.30), 15th in the 100-yard Backstroke (54.14) and 20th in the 50-yard Freestyle (23.05). At the NCAA Champs, she attended as a relay alternate, and swam on the 200-yard Freestyle Relay and 400-yard Freestyle Relay, garnering 2 CSCAA All-America Honorable Mentions.
2016-2017
In her sophomore year at the Big Ten Champs, Catie finished 6th in the 50-yard Freestyle (22.42) and 100-yard Freestyle (48.89) and 9th in the 100-yard Backstroke (52.93), making her a 3-event scorer. At NCAA’s, she again went as a relay alternate, and swam on 200-yard Freestyle Relay, 200-yard Medley Relay and 400-yard Freestyle Relay.
2017-2018
Her junior year, Catie switched her primary events up, trading out the 100 back for the 200 free, which paid off. At Big Tens, she finished 3rd in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:43.32) and 4th in the 50-yard Freestyle (22.16) and the 100-yard Freestyle (48.30). DeLoof also contributed to the Big Ten Champion 400free and 800 free relays. She swam her first individual events at the NCAA’s the next month, and finished 11th in the 200-yard Freestyle (1:44.33) and tied for 41st in the 50-yard Freestyle (22.59). DeLoof garnered 3 All-American titles with the wolverines’ 200-yard Freestyle Relay, 400-yard Freestyle Relay, and 800-yard Freestyle Relay.
2018-2019
DeLoof had her best year in her last year at Michigan. At the Big Ten Championships, she earned 3 runner up placed in the 50-yard Freestyle (21.88), 100-yard Freestyle (47.52) and 200-yard Freestyle (1:42.55). She was also a 3-time Big Ten champion in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, 400-yard Freestyle Relay, and 800-yard Freestyle Relay. At the NCAA’s, she finished 6th in 200-yard Freestyle (1:43.17), 8th in 100-yard Freestyle (47.59) and 10th in 50-yard Freestyle (21.98). In total, she earned 6 All-American honors in the 100-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Freestyle Relay, 400-yard Freestyle Relay, 800-yard Freestyle Relay, and 200-yard Medley Relay.
National/International Competition
2018 Summer Nationals
At nationals in Irvine, DeLoof finished 12th in the 50 free (25.31) and 100 free (54.61), and 21st in the 200 free (2:00.08). Her finish in the 100 free qualified her for the 2019 World University Games in Naples, Italy.
2019 World University Games
Catie DeLoof started the 2019 WUG’s on the women’s 4×100 free relay, where she helped USA take home gold with a split of 54.10 in the 3rd spot, handing it off to her sister, Gabby, to anchor the team home to victory.
2021 Olympic Trials
In Omaha, Catie made her first Olympic team, finishing 5th with a 53.87 to qualify for Tokyo in the 4×100 free relay.
2021 Olympic Games
DeLoof started her meet in the 4×100 free relay on Day 1, swimming the 2nd leg in prelims. DeLoof split 53.42, helping the US women secure a spot in the final, where they went on to finish 3rd overall, netting DeLoof a bronze medal.
