Chihiro Igarashi is a competitive swimmer who represents Japan internationally.
International Competition
2016 Olympic Games
In Rio, Igarashi swam the 200 and 400 free, placing 17th in the 200 (1:57.88) and 12th (4:07.52) in the 400. She also swam on Japan’s 4×200 free relay, where she set a national record in the 200 free (1:57.18) leading off in prelims to help the relay finish 7th in the morning. At night, the squad finished 8th overall.
2017 World Championships
Chihiro swam the 200 free at the 2017 World champs, advancing to semi finals and finishing 13th (1:57.96) overall. She also swam on Japan’s 4×200 free relay, and while they finished 5th and outside of medaling, they did set a new national record in finals (7:50.43).
2018 Asian Games
Igarashi had her best international performance yet in Jakarta, winning a purse of 4 medals overall. She took bronze individually in both the 200 (1:57.49) and 400 (4:08.48) free as well as taking gold and silver in the 4×100 and 4×200 free relays.
