Christina Burns

Christina Burns

Christina Burns was born on April 4th, 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts to parents Paul and Kathleen Burns. At just the age of two, Christina began swim lessons with her grandmother who was a swim instructor at the time. From then on, Christina felt a natural attraction to the water. When she reached high school, Christina’s passion for swimming grew tremendously when she joined the Westford Academy Swim Team. There, she swam competitively for four years, in addition to swimming for the Southern New Hampshire Fins and the Westford Summer Team. Swimming was more than just a sport to her, but rather something that she could share with her family. As one of five children, Christina and her siblings have always connected through the sport despite the age differences between them. When Christina graduated, she left her hometown of Westford, Massachusetts and ventured to Boston, Massachusetts where she currently swims at Simmons College under head coach Mindy Williams. In her first season, she suffered an injury prohibiting her from competing. However, in the 2014-2015 Christina made a splash and improved tremendously. She enjoys training and competing in distance events and is known for her infectious team spirit.

In the fall of 2013, Christina suffered an injury from which she could not compete. However, for her love of the sport and the team, Christina took on a managerial role in which she helped with whatever the team, and coaches needed. As a sophomore, Christina recovered and made it back to the pool to compete as a Simmons Shark.
