Courtney Peters
Courtney Peters is a member of the University of Georgia’s 2015 large senior class. She’s a butterfly and IM specialist from Acworth, Ga., and has posted the ninth fastest time in Georgia history in the 200 butterfly. The Early Childhood Education major swam for Marietta Marlins where she won multiple state championships in the 200 butterfly, 400 IM and 200 IM. With an upbeat personality, Peters is a fan of One Direction, and her sister is also a swimmer for the Bulldogs.
University of Georgia
2011-2012
Her freshman season as Bulldog Peters posted an NCAA ‘B’ cut in the 200 butterfly. She also was on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for spring semester.
2012-2013
Peters qualified for the 2013 NCAA Championships after just one year of collegiate experience. She finished 31st in the 200 butterfly and 49th in the 100 butterfly, and the Bulldogs went on to win the national title.
2013-2014
When qualifying for the NCAA Championships Peters was a “bubble” qualifier, and just sneaked into the top 39 200 butterfliers in the nation. She made it count though because Georgia won its second consecutive national title. She finished 55th in the 100 butterfly and 35th in the 200. Peters was also chosen as a Scholar All-American by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
2014-2015
Peters has posted NCAA ‘B’ cuts.
National Competition
The native Georgian attended high school at North Paulding where she was a 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier in the 200m butterfly. She finished 67th overall.
