Daniel Carr is a competitive swimmer who represents the USA internationally.
High School (Cheyenne Mountain)
In high school, Carr was a member of the National Junior team. He swam the 100 and 200 backstroke at the 2016 Olympic trials on Omaha, and was ranked as SwimSwam’s #16 recruit in the high school class of 2017. On September 29, 2016, Carr announced his verbal commitment to swim for Cal.
College (Cal)
2018
As a freshman, Carr had an immediate impact. At his first PAC-12 championships, he scored in all 3 individual events, including 11th in the 200 IM (1:45.12), 7th in the 100 back (46.26), and 3rd in the 200 back (1:40.72). He also led off the the winning 200 and 400 medley relays. At NCAA’s, he scored individually in both the 100 (45.24, 11th) and 200 (1:39.29, 10th) backstrokes. He again led off both medley relays, the 400 placing 4th and the 200 placing 2nd and setting an American record.
2019
Carr continued progressing through his sophomore year. At the PAC-12 championships, he notched placings of 2nd in the 100 back (45.64), 3rd in the 200 back (1:40.25), and 6th in the 200 IM (1:43.93). He also led the bears to repeat their championships titles in both medley relays. At NCAA’s, Carr scored in all 3 individual events, which included 11th in the 200 IM (1:42.42), 7th in the 100 back (45.21) after a highly uncommon re-swim, and 5th in the 200 back (1:39.33). He again led off both medley relays, which both finished 2nd overall.
National/International Competition
2019 Pan American Games (Lima, Peru)
In Lima at his first major international competition, Carr took golds in both the 100 (53.50) and 200 (1:58.13) backstroke. He also led off USA’s winning 4×100 medley relay in 53.95.
