Elise Haan is a competitive swimmer who represents the United States internationally.
High School (Gulf Coast)
Growing up in Naples, Florida, Haan became a competitive swimmer and excelled from a young age. By the end of her high school career, she was an 8-time state champion, having won 3 straight titles in the 100 back (2012-2014), 1 in the 100 free (2015), and notching runner-up finished in the 50 free (2012 and 2013). For her accomplishments, she was named Athlete of the Year all 4 years in high school. She was also a member of the USA Junior National Team in 2014 and 2015. After high school, Haan decided to swim at Florida Gulf Coast University.

2015-2016
At Florida Gulf Coast, Haan made an immediate impact as a freshman. At the CCSA conference meet, she won 7 titles: 3 individual in the 100 free, 100 back, and 200 back, and 4 as a part of FGCU relays. For her efforts, she was named the Co-Most Outstanding Female Swimmer of the year as well as the Freshman performer of the year at the CCSA Championships. At the NCAA Championships, she finished 16th in the 100 back, marking the only point for FGCU. To cap the year, she was named CCSA Swimmer of the Year as well as CCSA All-Conference. After her freshman season, Haan decided to transfer and compete for the NC State wolf pack.
NC State
2016-2017
In her first season as a wolf, Haan made great strides. At her first ACC Championship meet, she helped the pack win a title in the 200 medley relay, and placed 3rd individually in the 200 back (1:52.82). At the NCAA Champs, she finished 13th in the 100 back (51.63) and 35th in the 200 back (1:54.22). She was also a member of NC State’s 200 medley, 400 medley, and 800 free relays.
2017-2018
In her junior year, Haan continued to improve. She won her first ACC title in the 100 back (50.76) and helped the pack repeat their title in the 200 medley relay. She also placed 2nd in the 200 back (1:52.65), and earned All-ACC honors for her feats. At the NCAA Championships, she finished 4th in the 100 back with a school record of 50.42, and 16th in the 200 back (1:53.09). She also swam in the 200 free, 400 free, and 400 medley relays.
2018-2019
Haan successfully defended her 100 back title at the 2019 ACC Championships, touching in 51.43 for 1st. She also finished 6th in the 200 back (1:53.71) and 27th in the 50 free (22.91). On the NC State relays, Haan competed on the winning 200 medley and 400 medley relay squads, the former of which broke an ACC meet and pool record at 1:34.52. At the NCAA Championships, Haan contributed to the 3rd place 200 medley relay, 4th place 400 medley relay, and 5th place 200 free relay. She also placed 16th individually in the 100 back (52.07).
National/International Competition
2018 Summer Ntionals
In Irvine at the 2018 Nationals, Haan placed 3rd in the 50 back (27.90) and 6th in the 100 back (1:00.08), qualifying for the 2019 World University Games in both events.
2019 World University Games
Haan started her meet off in the 100 back, where she placed 2nd (59.62) to fellow American and future NC State teammate, Katharine Berkoff. She followed that up with another 2nd place showing, touching in 28.02 for silver in the 50 back as well.
