High School (St. Xavier)
Grant House won 8 individual state titles during his high school years in Ohio. For his achievements, House was named Greater Cincinnati Male Swimmer of the Year for 4-years in a row (2013-16).
Leaving high school, House was the winningest swimmer in OHSAA history with 13 state championships (eight individual, five on relays). House also won a 2016 state championship in water polo.
College (Arizona State)
2017-2018
House was an immediate impact player for the sundevils in his freshman campaign. At the 2018 PAC-12 champs, he started by helping ASU to a 2nd place finish in the 800 free relay. He went on to take 11th in the 500 free (4:19.93), 3rd in the 200 free (1:33.58), and 12th in the 100 free (43.44).
At the NCAA’s, House participated in ASU’s 10th place 800 free relay and placed 14th in the 200 free (1:33.61), earning 2 All-American honorable mentions.
2018-2019
House once again came in clutch for ASU as a sophomore. At the 2019 PAC-12 champs, he led off ASU’s 4th place 800 free relay with a split of 1:32.38. He then placed 4th in the 200 IM (1:42.83), 2nd in the 200 free (1:32.47), and 10th in the 200 breast (1:54.67).
At NCAA’s, he led off ASU’s 9th place 800 free relay (1:32.74), anchored their 8th place 400 free relay (42.30), and placed 10th in the 200 breast (1:32.29). With these performances, House earned two more All-American honorable mentions as well as his 1st All-American honor.
2019-2020
On September 6th, 2019, it was announced that House would be taking an Olympic redshirt season, sitting out what would have been his junior season with Arizona State to train for the U.S. Olympic Trials. House’s coach, Bob Bowman, commented:
“It made sense when we took into account his academic program over the next couple years and our belief that he would really benefit from an additional year of development,” Bowman said. “It also is a strategically sound long-term move for our team given the class we have coming in 2020.”
National/International Competition
2015 Junior World Championships (Singapore, Singapore)
At the Jr World Champs, House earned a gold medal in the 800 free relay, splitting 1:49.29 on the anchor leg.
2019 Pan American Games (Lima, Peru)
House was a member of the United States’ runner-up 4×100 free relay team, which finished 2.33 behind Brazil’s Pan Am Games record (3:12.61). He also was part of Team USA’s 4×200 free relay, which also finished 2nd behind Brazil.
Individually, House finished sixth in the 200 free (1:48.58), just 0.87 seconds off the podium.
